'Criminal Minds' Promises Fans Answers After J.J.'s Finale Revelation – PopCulture.com

Criminal Minds fans won’t have to wait terribly long for answers following the emotional bombshell during Season 14’s season finale, in which fans learned that J.J. (A.J. Cook) is potentially in love with Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler). Cook told Watch! magazine that her confession will be addressed sooner rather than later when the show returns in the winter.

“Well, I can tell you we will find out what happens now that [J.J.] has expressed her true feelings for Dr. Reid,” she teased to the magazine in its July/August issue.

“Don’t you mean ‘Jeid?'” interjected Gubler. “That’s what the internet is calling us.”

The rest of the cast teased even more details about season 15, which will be Criminal Minds‘ last. Daniel Henney, who plays Matt Simmons, explained that the upcoming villain is on the darker side of the series unsub spectrum.

“Overall, I’d say [Season] 15 has more of an arc through the episodes than previous seasons. Our unsub, Chameleon, is played by [Castle veteran] Michael Mosely, and he’s definitely into some gruesome, creepy stuff,” he said.

Last month, CBS released the first cast photo for the final season, showing series veterans Joe Mantegna (David Rossi), Cook, Gubler, Kirsten Vangsness (Penelope Garcia), and Paget Brewster (Emily Prentiss) and more recent cast additions Aisha Tyler (Dr. Tara Lewis), Adam Rodriguez (Luke Alvez) and Henney posing for a colorful shoot.

According to showrunner Erica Messer, Season 15 will pick up following a time jump and feature “a little more serialized storytelling” as well as “a couple of personal stories that might be surprising to people.”

CBS announced in January that the longrunning procedural crime drama would be coming to an end following a 10-episode 15th season.

“It is the quintessential CBS hit. We are so proud to have aired it,” Amy Reisenbach, CBS’ EVP current programs, said at the time. “It speaks to everything we do best, which is air quality television. It’s been successful not only on air but online, in syndication, internationally for ABC (Studios).”

Although new seasons of Criminal Minds typically premiere during the fall TV schedule, Season 15 is being held for midseason, with its typical Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET timeslot being given to Shemar Moore-starring series S.W.A.T.

Currently, there is no premiere date for the final season. All previous seasons of the series are available for streaming on CBS All Access. Seasons 1-12 are available for streaming on Netflix.

The US government is testing surveillance balloons that could track multiple vehicles from 65,000 feet

  • The United States military is testing a new form of border surveillance technology: high-altitude balloons.
  • The balloons are equipped with radar tech that enables the tracking of multiple vehicles, day or night, in any weather conditions.
  • An FCC filing, first spotted by The Guardian, details the intent of the project: “To provide a persistent surveillance system to locate and deter narcotic trafficking and homeland security threats.”

The United States military is testing a new form of surveillance: high-altitude balloons.

The tests, first discovered by The Guardian’s Mark Harris in an FCC filing, are being conducted in South Dakota through the Sierra Nevada Corporation — a defense contractor employed by the US government.

The balloons can float as high as 65,000 feet, and are able to track vehicles day or night, regardless of the weather.

The goal of the balloons, according to the FCC filing, is: “To provide a persistent surveillance system to locate and deter narcotic trafficking and homeland security threats.”

The company named in the filing, Sierra Nevada Corporation, is working on behalf of the United States Department of Defense to test the balloons. The United States Southern Command (Southcom) commissioned the tests; the balloons are scheduled to begin flying in South Dakota and conclude in central Illinois.

Though the technology might sound strange, it’s not the first pairing of balloons with tech hardware to enable surveillance: The Israeli government has repeatedly used surveillance balloons with cameras attached in Israel.

The surveillance balloons in this case, however, are equipped with so-called “synthetic-aperture radar” devices from Artemis Networks — a tech company that makes wireless radar devices. Using an SAR device, users can create high-resolution images using radio pulses, which enables a much higher level of detail in surveillance use.

Neither the Department of Defense nor the Sierra Nevada Corporation responded to requests for comment as of publishing.

'Criminal Minds' Season 15: Which Cast Members Will Return for the Final Season? – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Criminal
Minds
will be back for one final season of hunting serial killers and
putting away the bad guys. The epic series on CBS will return with 10 episodes in
an epic farewell run. All of our favorites will be back one last time.

For some, the thought of not having Criminal
Minds
anymore is almost too much to bear. You can almost always find a
great episode of the show playing on television somewhere. It’s a show liked by
people all over the world. But there is still one season left to go, and hopefully
it will feature some happiness and closure for all of our favorite
FBI agents
.

Who will return for ‘Criminal Minds’ Season 15?

Members of the show participated in a photo shoot for CBS’ Watch!
Magazine
for the upcoming season. Those on set included Joe Mantegna, A.J.
Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Matthew Gray Gubler, Paget Brewster, Aisha Tyler, Adam
Rodriguez, and Daniel Henney. The photos were shot for the July/August issue
and were shot by Robert Trachtengerg.

Showrunner Erica Messer told TVLine
that the final season will start with a time jump and have “a little more
serialized storytelling” and “a couple of personal stories that might be
surprising to people.” This is good news, as it means the characters will
receive closure and maybe answer some long-lingering questions.

When does Season 15 take place?

At the ending of the 14th season, we see J.J. (A.J. Cook)
have an unexpected confession. However, season 15 won’t pick up here, but will
instead feature a time jump of six months.

“We kick off the final 10 with a two-parter,
basically,” Messer
explained
. “Whether they’re aired at the same time or not is unclear,
but it’s a two-hour story. The emotional journey of our heroes [picks] up about
six months after this finale has aired, and chasing the Chameleon.”

What’s the story for ‘Criminal Minds’ Season 15?

Not a whole lot is known about the upcoming season of Criminal Minds. What we do know is that Everett “Chameleon” Lynch (Michael Mosley) will be back in this new season. He was introduced at the end of season 14 and Rossi wants him taken down.

Messer told Deadline
that she liked the character so much, that she thought he was a “worthy
adversary” for the cast and Rossi himself. “We pick up with Rossi’s
obsession in catching him in the final ten, and then that will play throughout,
which is, you know, not a usual thing for us.”

What else can be expected from the upcoming season?

Matthew Gray Gubler, who plays Dr. Spencer Reid, told Parade
in an interview that Jane Lynch, who plays his mother, Diana, will make an
appearance in this final
season
. “I see a happy ending in store for Reid, which is something
that we’re all looking forward to, including with his mom,” explained
Gubler.

It’s still unclear whether Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson), Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore), or Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin) will be involved in the series’ final conclusion. Fans will soon find out before long. The final season will air in the Fall this year.
