“Criminal Minds” Season 12 has seen a lot of changes following the departure of Shemar Moore and the controversial firing of Thomas Gibson from the CBS drama. Recent updates for the series hint on the possible exit of another major character from the show – Matthew Gray Gubler, who plays Spencer Reid.

“Criminal Minds” Season 12 cancellation news are heating up online, as another major character is rumored to be leaving the CBS series. According to Carter Matt, many fans are expressing their worries that Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) may die in the upcoming episodes.

The publication notes that there have been some telling signs that Spencer may soon be gone from “Criminal Minds” Season 12. First, his character recently left the team in order to take care of his mother.

Second, an upcoming episode of “Criminal Minds” Season 12 is reportedly titled “Spencer.” As most fans can recall, a title from a previous episode was titled “Morgan,” which signaled the upcoming departure of Derek Morgan from the series.

However, executive producer Harry Bring reassured fans that Gubler will not be leaving “Criminal Minds” Season 12 in a recent tweet. It can be recalled that many fans are already expressing their worries for the show’s future since Thomas Gibson was fired from the CBS drama.

Ratings for “Criminal Minds” Season 12 have seen a major drop since Gibson left the show due to an alleged altercation incident with one of the writers. TV Series Finale notes that the show is averaging a 1.51 rating in the 18-49 demographics.

This is a 15.78 percent drop from the ratings of last season while the total viewers dropped to 7.850 million in “Criminal Minds” Season 12. Several fans threatened to stop watching the show since they believe that Gibson’s character, Hotch, was the main character of the series.
